Insert Profound Statement Here

Here I am on New Year's Eve at the co-op with the Mrs., Bubba two neices and the one nephew I cannot tolerate very well. Everyone else is in Manhattan, victims of one uncle's desire to take as many pictures in as many places with as many uncomfortable moments as possible. While I'm grateful I dodged that bullet, this isn't too much better; cramped, noisy - but actually not too much so, so maybe I should shut up now.

In less than 12 hours 2008 will be upon me and us all. Three weeks later school begins again. Taxes will be sent out within a month. If we're lucky (see "deleriously") there's a vacation in Florida with a giant creepy mouse in our future this July. Then Fall and more classes. Then the holidays. Then 2009.

I'm sure there's going to be more to it than that, but frankly the school parts will likely overwhelm the rest. Some pretty rough classes coming up, ones that bridge the undergraduate and the graduate, and from then on it really is all up to me. Up to now I've been skating by on natural ability - I've always been good at getting good grades in classes - but I know that soon begins the age of increased effort, detailed reports and essays, and presentations. No more multiple-choice exams. I will miss them, I'm sure.

But that's a worry for next year. Tonight i'll just get through whatever festivities present themselves as calmly as possible, with the help of Vicodin, Lyrica and muscle relaxers. Maybe more than usual.

As with everything else, we'll see...
