Yep... slow goin' in the e - lec - tronic lit'rary front this year. Gonna be a long, hot one too.
So: what new? I got Bubba with me now. Didn't seem right or fair to make him keep going to daycare if I wasn't going to be going to classes in the daytime, so I took him out. Plus, saves us a lot of money a month.
Mainly, he was miserable there. No, I'm serious: he hated that place. It wasn't the places fault, either. Nice facility, good teachers, kids were pretty much well-behaved. No, after 2 years at this place it was apparent that Bubba just did not like being in the 'system'. I know, that doesn't bode well for pre-school and beyond, but since pre-school is only a few hours a day as opposed to the full day daycare is, I'm sure he'll handle it better when the time comes.
This past week, Bubba's been happier than a piglet in a slop bath. I do have a little structured activity I do with him, but mainly he just does his thing under my supervision. If this sounds like bad parenting to you, may I remind you he's never been happier? No lie.
Won't last forever, though. Matter of fact, pre-school registration begins in March here, so I'll be taking him in for that. Fortunately, the school in his zone is not only a block and a half from me but a magnet school, one of those schools where they specilize in something. That's very cool, especially since it's 2 things close to my heart.
The Mrs. has been happier, too, as she hasn't been having to drive back-and-forth to work everyday because she had to drop Bubba off at daycare, thereby saving gas and the time it takes to find a parking space. Bubba even greets her better now. So far, it's all win/win. So far.
As far as SSD goes, all I can do is wait now. They had me go to one of their doctors for an exam, the type of state-paid doctors who see you for 5 minutes or less and tell the state what they want to hear, most of the time. See, this is where having a law firm to keep an eye on things helps. They are making sure to let the Admin. know, if the claim is denied, about how crappy the exam was. And it was. I mean, really; don't these guys have any professional ethic?
Civil case comes back up first week of next month. Cross yer fingers.
Taking Bubba to my college today, as the school paper needs me to copy edit before we put this issue to bed. Ought to be interesting.
Book moving at the pace of a snail in a coma. But work hasbeen done.
Feburary ought to be interesting... see you then.
